Lost Art

There is a lost art...it is the Relief Society craft night. Don't get me wrong I totally support the enrichment program, but why can't we all still craft together on a regular basis. There was a day when the sister of the church got together and traded ideas oh how to bring beauty to our homes and bond over toll painting and floral arrangements.

I am not saying it needs to be all the time, but there is a art to women coming together. Like a quilting bee...Yep I am young, educated, not married and still would find a quilting bee fun!

So here is why quilting bee used to be popular:

"Many times groups of women gather for a quilting bee. The bee is a form of socialization and relaxation for these women. It's a time when they can get together to visit and "catch up" with one another once their household duties have been completed."

Are any of your interested in bringing back this lost art?

we still have a "craft night" once a year for enrichment. We do it in October, as the craft make GREAT & INEXPENSIVE christmas gifts. But, we also have "round-to-it" tables. So, no one has to feel obligated to sign up for a craft. If they have their own project from home that they are working one, but haven't got 'round-to-it just yet, they bring it that night to work on. It's great to be able to sit around and mingle.

Also, one of the gals in our neighborhood is a "stampin up" demonstrator. So, she invites anyone who wants to come to her house the 3rd thurs of the month to make cards or work on scrapbooks. we can make card using her supplies and even her paper at cost.

I actually kind of miss the old format of once a month enrichment. It seemed easier for me to remember what night and so on. Also, I Love the crafts. Usually I made them, but even if I didn't it was always fun to show up and chat with those that did! Here, here, to a quilting bee or something like it!!

I agree. I don't enjoy quilting I have to admit, but I love crafts. Half my Christmas decor is from Enrichments years ago. I say bring it back!
