My DEEP rooted spelling issues

Once upon a time...well when I was in the second grade I entered a spelling bee. At the time I was quite the expert speller and it came down to me and another girl...she is probably an editor now, but none the less our paths crossed that day. It was the last word....I proceeded with confidence

A-T-H-E-T-E

"I am sorry that is incorrect"

little miss editor in the making proceeds to attempt the word.

A-T-H-L-E-T-E

"That is correct"

That day will forever mark the day I started just not caring about spelling....I mean that is what spell check is for. Anyway I want you to know that with all the other things that I am good at I have just accepted that some childhood experience shape our lives.

I admit it I am a lazy speller, I hate to proof read and I accept the consequences of this in my life.

PS. This dedicated to you Kimma.

Awww...a whole post dedicated just to me?! I feel so honored!!! I am glad to know where your "deep rooted spelling issues" come from. I will not mention it again, I will just silently smirk to myself and continue reading on. ;)

Love your F-R-I-E-N-D,
Kimma

LOL...I could just do a spell change, but I like to justify!

I'm an OK speller if I am writing it, but if I have to spell out loud...forget about it! I misspelled invitation in my school spelling bee. My older brother actually went to the National Spelling Bee in Washington DC when he was in 7th grade representing all of Arizona! I definitely know where all of the smart genes went!

that is sooo funny. i used to remember everyone's phone numbers too, until cell phones came along and you could store over 100 people's names & numbers... technology i guess makes us a little lazy - but - ah well... it also makes my life easier.

Very funny Jennifer! My high school 10th grade English teacher always made me feel like crap when I wrote papers but in college, I always got A's....go figure! He was trying to PREPARE us for college but as a result I was too nervous to take AP English and just took simple English and did great in college...sheesh!
